About the Program

The Carolina Crew Football Club Host Family Program offers players from around the country a unique opportunity to train and play with the Carolina Crew FC UPSL-W pre-PROFESSIONAL team and Carolina Crew FC first team.

These committed athletes have been identified by the Carolina Crew FC recruiting department as individuals with talent to compete at the next level.

There is no application process; players who are selected for the program will have the opportunity to move to the Fayetteville, NC and surrounding areas, which includes Cumberland/Hoke/Robeson/Harnett Counties. Players live with host families that have volunteered to support them for the duration of the Host Family Program.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are players placed with host families?

The host family application process is designed for Carolina Crew FC academy staff to determine the best fit for both player and family. All prospective host families will meet for an in-house visit. The host family and Carolina Crew FC academy staff would have the opportunity to get to know each other, ask questions, and discuss topics from logistics to living arrangements.

Upon determining a match between player and host family, Carolina Crew FC academy staff will facilitate an initial introduction between the player, his immediate family and host family to ensure overall fit and comfort. Following this initial introduction.

Who is expected to undergo a background check?

All persons 18 and older that list the host family address as their primary residence will undergo a background check. This includes college students who are home for school breaks, as well as household members who live with the host family part-time. This also includes any individual spending significant or unsupervised time with the host player must go through a background check.

The results will be shared with the player’s family. Everyone must submit a separate background check authorization.

What happens after the player moves in with the host family?

The Host Family Program will conduct an initial 30-day assessment to confirm the arrangement between the player and host family are meeting the needs of all parties.

Carolina Crew FC academy staff will then follow up with a 30-day assessment. At the conclusion of the 30-day assessment, Carolina Crew FC academy considers the initial assessment period completed. From this point forward, Carolina Crew FC academy staff will conduct monthly check-ins via in-person visits to the host family and/or phone calls between academy staff, the host family, and host player.

Is there compensation for the host family?

This is on a good faith voluntary commitment however Compensation will be discussed on an individual family basis.

What are host families committing to when they agree to host a player?

Host families commit to providing a family away from home for the player they host. Between a player’s academic and Carolina Crew FC academy programs, she will engage in a rigorous and challenging schedule. A host family will be vital to her support and well-being. In doing so, a host family will help an individual reach her full holistic and sporting potential.

Host families receive free entry to all home matches, allowing you to enjoy every exciting moment of the Carolina Crew FC season while supporting the team and your hosted athlete.

As a host family, you’ll receive VIP access to all Carolina Crew FC events. This includes special seating, exclusive areas, and behind-the-scenes experiences at matches and team events.

3. Behind-the-Scenes Team Access

Gain access to team events and matchdays, including opportunities to meet players, coaches, and staff before and after matches, offering a closer connection to the team.

4. Invitation to Team Events and Activities

Host families are invited to exclusive team events such as training sessions, social gatherings, and community events, providing opportunities to interact with the Crew family.

5. Personalized Meet-and-Greets with the Athlete

Enjoy personal interactions with your hosted athlete during informal meet-and-greets, allowing you to build a lasting bond and share special moments together.

6. Exclusive Host Family Recognition

Receive special recognition during Carolina Crew FC home matches with shoutouts or mentions on social media, as well as public acknowledgments in front of the crowd.

7. Increased Social and Networking Opportunities

Hosting a pre-PROFESIONAL athlete allows you to network with other team supporters, sponsors, and soccer fans, providing social opportunities both on and off the field.

In some cases, host families may be invited to travel with the team for away matches, experiencing the excitement of soccer on the road with Carolina Crew FC.
